The old street in Shenzhen, which Shenzhen people used to call "old Dongmen", was formed in the middle of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644), also known as "Shenzhen old market". It is located north of Shennan East Road in Luohu District, Shenzhen, and is structured by the main streets such as Dongmen Middle Road, Renmin North Road, Jiefang Road and Hubei road. The "Shenzhen new market" formed during the Republic of China, including today's Heping Road, Jianshe Road, Renmin South Road and railway station, constitutes a small town of about 350000 square meters. The urban area of Shenzhen was developed on this basis.
Dongmen, the busiest place in Shenzhen, has become a banner of Shenzhen's commerce and trade industry, reflecting and guiding the consumption trend and fashion in Shenzhen. It is the most popular traditional business district in Shenzhen, so the old east gate has always been a must for merchants. Many merchants have been attracted by the unique commercial charm of the old east gate, forming a situation where both business and sales are flourishing in the east gate.
